The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in the FYR of Macedonia and the University of Cambridge signed a Memorandum of Understanding expressing interest in establishing a programme of cooperation between the two institutions.

The initial scope of the cooperation, led by the University of Cambridge Institute for Manufacturing, is:

(1) to establish a postgraduate course in Industrial Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management to develop future leaders of industry and industry-capable entrepreneurs;
(2) and to establish an Industry Development Unit to help small- and medium-size manufacturing firms to grow and increase their competitiveness.

The President of the Government of the FYR of Macedonia Nikola Gruevski stated that the establishing of these studies would create the ideal conditions for the country to become a leader in the sphere of industrial innovations, entrepreneurship and management of South East Europe. He showed himself convinced that a quantitative and qualitative jump in applied and innovative technology can be achieved as well as increased competitiveness, economic growth and well-being.
