News archive - South-eastern-Europe and the EU Leadership Development Programme (July 2008 - April 2009)

In an effort to support the integration process in South-eastern Europe, the TRANSFUSE Association from Berlin and the College of Europe from Bruges are organising for the third year a Leadership Development Programme for young people from South-eastern Europe, as well as broader Europe and the United States, who aspire to play an active role in the future of their countries. Deadline for applications is May 9, 2008.

The Programme will last one year and include:

  1. A two-week Summer Academy in Germany (30 August - 13 September 2008)
  2. A five-day Workshop in Brussels and Bruges (April 2009)
  3. Group Activities in South-eastern Europe (November 2008 - March 2009)

The participants are expected to be available during the overall period of the Programme (July 2008 – April 2009) and to attend each planned activity.

The cost of the participation in the Programme for the successful candidates will be covered by the Programme donors. This will include travel costs, full board and lodging, visa fees and health insurance where required.

The Programme will be led by an Academic Dean, Lord Roper, a Member of the British House of Lords who will guide the participants through the different aspects of the Programme.

The participants:
Up to 30 participants will be chosen to participate in the programme. They will come from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, FYROM, Kosovo, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Moldova and Turkey. In addition, a certain number of participants will be selected from broader Europe and the United States.
The Programme is specifically designed for students who are currently undertaking or are about to start their postgraduate studies as well as recent graduates at the beginning of their professional career.

Applicants should:

  • be under the age of 28 with a successful academic record
  • have an excellent level of English
  • have modest international experience, but high interest in the EU and international affairs
  • possess a high degree of personal commitment and professional orientation
  • have a first work experience through internships or voluntary work
