News archive - Slovak Development Aid adresses also academic and research institutions

Slovak Agency For International Development Cooperation has opened calls for project proposals in the area of Official Development Assistance Slovak Aid (Deadlines: August 1, 2007/August 15, 2007). Although not in the center of activities, cooperation among universities is also addressed in this call.

Only Slovak legal entities with written declaration of interest from the partner in the target country can apply for a financial support.
Serbia and Montenegro are the main target countries of Slovak ODA.
The "country strategy paper" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic explains the rationale, principles and priorities of Slovak Aid.
The following thematic foci are stated:

  • Development of civil society, social animation and regional development
  • Repairs and development of local infrastructure
  • Assisting with the integration into international organisation, such as the WTO and groupings such as the EU

In the indicative list of interest areas identified by recipient- and donorcountry entities, under the heading "7.1 Civil Society, Social Animation and Regional Development", the following suggestion for projects is made:

7.1.8 Exchange of faculty, staff and students so as to foster collaboration between selected Universities, principally in the social sciences, science and technologies, with special reference to social animation and strengthening civil society.

Deadline for this call is August 1, 2007.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is rated as "A" Priority Country together with Afghanistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kenya and Ukraine.
Priorities are:

  • Developing democratic institutions and market environment
  • Repairs and development of local (including social) infrastructure
  • Landscaping, Environment conservation, Agriculture, Food safety and Use of mineral resources

Deadline for the call for this group of countries is August 8, 2007.

Albania and FYR of Macedonia are rated as "B" priority together with Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Mozambique, Sudan, Tadjikistan or Uzbekistan. The same priorities apply as for "A" priority countries.

Deadline for this group is August 15, 2007.
