POLICY ANSWERS Reports on Western Balkans’ ERA Integration (November 2023)
The POLICY ANSWERS project monitors and analyses the progress made by the Western Balkans in their integration into the new European Research Area (ERA). The results for the first edition of the reports (monitoring period 2022/23) are summarised in six reports on ERA integration for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.
These reports are published for the first time by POLICY ANSWERS and give an overview of the state of play in the implementation of the ERA by the Western Balkans. The structure and the content are defined by a set of 24 indicators covering all six ERA priorities set out by the European Commission in their ERA Monitoring Handbook 2018, notably among others aspects of the national research and innovation systems, international cooperation, gender equality and Open Access.
The reports were prepared in close cooperation with experts and POLICY ANSWERS partners from the region. POLICY ANSWERS and other experts are working on further reports for 2023/24.
