News archive - [Call Announcement] Call for expression of interest: join European Union campaign to boost knowledge valorisation

The European Commission’s Directorate for Research & Innovation is organising an awareness raising campaign on knowledge valorisation, with the aim to introduce this policy and demonstrate how to better translate research and innovation results into benefits for the economy and society. The awareness raising campaign is envisaged for a period of 18 months starting in spring 2023.

This campaign aims at raising awareness around the recently adopted Council Recommendation on the guiding principles for knowledge valorisation and demonstrate how they can be implemented through the Code of practice on the management of intellectual assets for knowledge valorisation in the new ERA for Research and Innovation and the Code of practice on standardisation for researchersforeseen to be adopted in February 2023. These guiding principles and the codes of practice support one of the strategic objectives of the Commission’s new European Research Area (ERA) for Research and Innovation for the uptake of research results to foster economic and societal prosperity and innovation.

Please respond to the call of expression of interest by 22 January 2023 to bring your ideas and join the preparation and roll out of the awareness raising campaign and connect across borders to achieve maximum outreach.

CALL OF EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Those who would be interested to offer activities for the campaign can express their interest also through organising trainings or webinars, or disseminate key messages through social media, as the campaign can provide visibility for various audiences.

In the context of this campaign the Commission will engage with the Member States and the relevant partners involved in intellectual assets creation and management, in standardisation and more broadly stakeholders in the valorisation of Research & Innovation results. Key partners such as the European Patent Office (EPO), the European Committee for Standardisation and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation (CEN-CENELEC) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) will join the campaign.

It will also promote sharing of intellectual assets management and standardisation best practices across the EU by offering trainings and peer learning opportunities between R&I actors. Horizon beneficiaries will also be encouraged to use the Codes of practice.

The campaign will include a tour of the EU capitals where events will be organised together with the Member States with the participation of the national, regional and local stakeholders. It will address all Research & Innovation actors: researchers, students, innovators and entrepreneurs in the making, Horizon Europe beneficiaries, research institutions, higher education institutions, standard development organisations, intellectual assets management professionals, and the business environment, as well as civil society associations and citizens, local and regional administrations, and policy makers.
