News archive - SFIC encourages integration of international cooperation aspects in Horizon Europe and the ERA

On 3 July 2020, the Strategic Forum for International S&T Cooperation (SFIC) adopted its opinion “Relevance of International Cooperation in research and innovation for the EU – boosting the international dimension of the ERA & Horizon Europe".

In the paper, SFIC has developed a set of recommendations encouraging the European Commission and the Member States to jointly develop the International Cooperation perspective for Horizon Europe and the European Research Area.

Topics tackled are: the increased focus on impact, benefits, barriers and risks of international cooperation, the alignment of MS and EU positions vis-à-vis third countries, the potential of association for strategic international cooperation, the need for dedicated instruments to foster International Cooperation, and the need to increase strategic knowledge of core STI partner countries and regions in the world.
