Short description

28th European Biomass Conference & Exhibition

Update from June 2020: The EUBCE 2020 is going virtual & becomes e-EUBCE in 2020!

The e-EUBCE 2020 event welcomes you with its main theme, “Bioeconomy’s role in the post-pandemic economic recovery”.

It is our goal that this virtual, online-only event will continue to meet the needs of the biomass community and to ensure fruitful future support for the research and professional communities.
We are absolutely convinced that e-EUBCE will prove to be as always an excellent tool for celebrating innovation and sharing best practices for our mutual social and economic development.

Virtual sessions and interactive booths within the exhibition floor will allow for live interaction with organisations active in bioeconomy development.

The work of scientific and industry authors will be presented during e-EUBCE and published in the digital proceedings, with e-posters available for virtual consultation.

We feel confident that the e-EUBCE will serve as a place of learning where we can all share the latest models, approaches, and research, continuing with all the best traditions of the academic and industry sectors and representing for all participants a treasured personal and professional experience.

Description

The European Biomass Conference & Exhibition has grown from a small research community biomass conference more than 30 years ago to a well-established international conference, tackling challenges ranging from biomass growth and biomass conversion to bioenergy, biofuels, and bioproducts, sustainability and policies, and to provide a forum for industrial implementation of technologies enabling the transition away from fossil fuels economies. For all of these topics on integration of processes, technologies and value chains it has always been necessary to ensure the most efficient use of the limited biomass resource and enable economic viability. The ultimate step of integration is a fully functioning bioeconomy.

The 28th EUBCE will expand its portfolio from energy related biomass production and conversion of bio-based feedstock to other sectors of the economy and will now integrate the bioeconomy into its conference programme.

EUBCE proposes for 2020 a programme that addresses and responds to the present-days challenges and opportunities for the whole biomass sector. The 2020 programme includes a refined topic and subtopic structure, responding to the suggestions from the scientific community and to the observed trends in biomass technologies, ranging from cutting edge research, policies, markets and sustainability to industrial applications. The new, emerging, innovative technologies are important to address as that could have a significant impact on the take-off on the bioeconomy. In particular, in 2020, the conference will dig deeper into the structure, components and role of the emerging bioeconomy, explore the role of agriculture in bioenergy production for energy and bioeconomy transition and seek improving citizen awareness and engagement in support of biomass technologies.

Invited are active workers in the field of biomass utilization, and indeed all people with an interest in being part of the emerging bioeconomy.

Call for Papers

Present your latest research and industrial results to the biomass sector's leading scientists, researchers, experts and professionals and participate in the most inspiring platform for bioenergy dialogue and information across the world!

The conference will be structured along the following main topics.

  1. SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES FOR DECARBONISING THE ECONOMY
  2. BIOMASS TECHNOLOGIES AND CONVERSION FOR BIOENERGY
  3. BIOMASS TECHNOLOGIES AND CONVERSION TO INTERMEDIATE BIOENERGY CARRIERS AND PRODUCTS OF THE BIOECONOMY
  4. BIOECONOMY SUSTAINABILITY, IMPACTS AND POLICIES (new)
  5. BIOENERGY INTEGRATION

Apply for Student Awards 2020

To encourage high-quality work amongst young researchers, the EUBCE Students Awards will be presented in recognition of the most remarkable and outstanding research work in the field of Biomass.

Received applications will be reviewed and scored by the International Scientific Committee, made up of leading research and industry experts from the global biomass community.

Conference Proceedings

EUBCE conference proceedings have a high reputation and visibility.

  • All submitted papers of plenary, oral and visual presentations will be published on-line with a full open access policy on the EUBCE Proceedings website

  • Full papers included in the proceedings are indexed by SCOPUS

  • Papers in the conference proceedings are coded by a digital identifier (DOI code).
This guarantees an unequivocal and permanent identification and citability.

Scientific Journal Publications of selected papers

Each year, the Scientific Committee selects a number of the most promising abstracts from each Conference topic that will be invited to be peer reviewed for potential publication by high impact journals. These publications will be in addition to the publication in the Conference Proceedings.

If you would like your abstract to be considered for inclusion in the Journal Publication/Peer Review process please tick the corresponding box during the submission. Please note that if selected, a full paper will need to be supplied.
