Science and Research in the Republic of Macedonia

This is an reprot on science and research in the FYR Macedonia prepared by dr. Viktor Stefov, President of the Council for Science and Research; Ministry of Education and Science, Republic of Macedonia for a UNESCO conference held in Ljubljana in 2006.

The report states that The Ministry of Education and Science of Republic of Macedonia is responsible for the science policy in the country, which is organised and executed by the Department of Science and Technology and advised by the Council for Science and Research. It also states that the legal frame for scientific research and technological development in Republic of Macedonia contains four laws (Law on the Scientific and Research Activities, Law on the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Law on Encouraging and Supporting the Technology Development, Law on Industrial and Intellectual Property Protection) and several internal regulations and instructions for the various activities in the R&D sector. Some programmes from R&D areas are then stated and described.
