EU energy statistics pocketbook 2013

The EC has published the 2013 edition of the "EU Energy in Figures" statistical pocketbook. The publication provides an overview of the most relevant annual energy related statistics for the European Union as a whole and for each Member State. The publication is divided into sections including: energy sector at world and EU level; main energy indicators at EU and Member States level and the impact of the energy sector on the environment.

Key headline facts and figures include China becoming the world's largest energy consumer in

2010; that Europe's overall energy production has dropped by 16 per cent since 1995, with France now the largest producer; and that Europe's energy consumption has gone up by 2 per cent since

1995, with Germany the largest consumer throughout.
