Scientific Evidence for Policymaking: Research insights from SSH Projects

The document summarises the outcomes of Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) projects funded under FP6 and FP7, where these have a potential impact on policymaking at local, regional, national and European level. The publication contains short policy papers summarising the findings of EU-funded SSH research projects that address key challenges regarding the social, economic, political and cultural make-up of Europe.

The subject areas covered include: major trends in society and their implications; the citizen in the European Union; and socio-economic and scientific indicators. The publication is an outcome of the SCOOP (‘Socio-economic sciences: Communicating outcomes oriented to policy’) project, funded under FP7, which ran from 2009 to 2012. Its aim was to maximise the potential for dissemination and knowledge transfer of SSH research, and the project focused on improving the uptake of SSH research into policy at local, regional, national and European level.
