[Success stories] Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Partnership between the University of Applied Sciences, Business and Civil Sectors in Student Education, Croatia

" From 2009 on, full-time and part-time students in the 3rd year of Entrepreneurship Economics of the VERN University of Applied Sciences may choose the elective subject Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development. Sustainable development requires a new way of thinking and doing business, including solid levels of information among entrepreneurs and organisations. Students - future entrepreneurs - will familiarise themselves with the responsibilities of the business sector and adopt the methods needed to consider and implement development activities. The elective subject was developed through cooperation between VERN, the not-for-profit organisation ODRAZ - Sustainable Community Development and OIKON - Institute for Applied Ecology, with a curriculum prepared in line with best practices and modern society requirements. The subject lecturers include Ms Lidija Pavić-Rogošić and Ms Višnja Jelić Mück from ODRAZ, and Dr. Zdravko Špirić (Assistant professor at Medical School Rijeka and Director of OIKON - Institute for Applied Ecology, subject sponsor)."
