Short description

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is establishing the new scholarship program „ERA Fellowships – Green Hydrogen“ to accompany the implementation of the National Hydrogen Strategy of the Federal Government in the context of the European Agenda Process on Green Hydrogen, which is a pilot initiative of the European Research Area (ERA).

The programme will enable young scientific experts to do research at universities and research institutes in Germany and the ERA. The young experts will be integrated into international expert networks, supported by scientific conferences and events involving DAAD alumni.

Four working groups focussing on the following key topics of the Agenda Process will be established: Production, Transport and infrastructure, Market stimulation, Cross-cutting issues.

Since climate neutrality by the middle of the 21st century is the declared goal of Germany and the EU, and green hydrogen is an important component in the transformation of the energy sector and the decarbonization of the emission-intensive sector, the DAAD, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), designed a new support program for foreign MA, PhD and postdoc students from many countries, listed below.

For MA students, the program provides funds for:

• entire master's program completed at a state or state-recognized university in Germany

or

• stay of up to one year of study in Germany as part of a master's degree completed at your home university. The general condition is that the academic credits you acquire in Germany are recognized by your home university. Moreover, the standard period of study at your home university should not be exceeded as a result of the study year in Germany

or

• master's thesis as part of an international master's program completed at a state or state-recognized university, research institute or company in Germany

or

• self-organized practice in a German company or non-university institution in the field of GH2

Application deadline: February 28, 2023!
