The event takes place in the afternoon of January 17, 2008 in Brussels.

Over the past two years, the National Authority for Scientific Research , through the Romanian Office for Science and Technology in Brussels has conducted a series of annual seminars to strengthen the cooperation at European level.

This year, with regard to one of the stated Slovenian EU Presidency objectives – EU enlargement – regarding the Western Balkan - enhancing cooperation, ANCS considered to contribute to this subject by the decision to convene the 2008 annual event on the 17th of January, with the topic “Stability through Science and Technology - Strengthening EU cooperation in R&D with the Western Balkan Countries”.

The event aims at providing a preliminary assessment of the right possibilities to support the Western Balkan countries in the effort of modernising their RDI system and adapt it to the European integration requirements, as a worthy way to make this geographical area an attractive pole for the EU scientific community.
