in Albania:

The 2nd Albania Business & Investment Summit is scheduled for September 14-15, 2007 in Tirana at the Sheraton Hotel.

"With its developing market economy, Albania offers many opportunities for investors, not least private equity and infrastructure. It offers a big two-way trading potential, especially with EU markets. Albania has also entered into free trade agreements with all Balkan countries opening new opportunities for trade within the region.

Albania ’s economy remains one of the fastest growing in Europe according to the IMF and the local financial sector has been gaining strength and has brought more certainty and stability for economic transactions. An on-going privatization process presents opportunities in strategic sectors, mining, power generation, oil and gas, telecommunications, finance and banking."

The 2nd Macedonia Business & Investment Summit will take place in Skopje at the Alexandar Palace on October 24-25, 2007.

"Macedonia is rapidly advancing on the path of political and economic reforms towards strengthening the open market company. The top priorities of the Government are: economic growth and development, active participation in regional and global integration processes, maintenance of macroeconomic stability, generation of a strong SME sector, and attraction of foreign direct investment (FDI) through continuous structural reforms. This New Business Haven offers great incentives for Free Enterprise Zone and Technology Park Investors and has attracted to Global players, Johnson Controls and Johnson Matthey to create a key distribution point for specialist motor accessories and ancillary services.

Macedonia was granted a candidate-country status for EU membership in December 2005, and full NATO membership is expected shortly. This has significantly improved the country’s political credibility amongst the international business community."
