Short description

The Open school will be organised in February 18-20, 2019  in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Leadership is the process of influencing others to reach a certain goal. Self-leadership is the process in which you influence yourself in achieving objectives. For both leadership as well as self-leadership awareness is important both of your behaviour, your role, your tasks functions etc. Although leadership is often associated with being a director or manager having a hierarchical relationship towards others, it is however just as much as about getting things done. Combining your technical knowledge with a set of strong communication, behavioural and personal skills is the key to understand one’s self and work to develop strong competencies in others. This training will provide you with knowledge for personal growth focuses on your own professional role and giving you practical tools to boost your professional career.


This training school is a three-day practical course designed for administrative staff who want to grow into a leadership role/position, and who:

●  are familiar with the international funding, particularly EU proposals, but also

●  have limited experience as leaders in administration.

What can you get out of this?

First and foremost, this training school is primarily about sharing knowledge, best practices, practical solutions, tips and hints, with:

●  Focus on the role of Research Administrators (RA) in the topic;

●  Providing training for RA by RA;

●  Integrating presentations by experts with practical examples and exercises;

●  Ample time will be set aside for Q&A sessions and discussions.

Training School organization

The training will be divided in four sessions dealing with four levels of control: Self, Team, Institution and National & International. In each level, topics and behaviour will be presented and discussed. Each circle deals with your role in that particular ecosystem, combining the four to an integrated training to boost your professional career.

Target groups

A - Research administrators that want to grow into a leadership role/position; Early stage administrators and applicants from institutions in so-called COST inclusiveness countries are especially encouraged to apply.

B - Research administrators from Slovenia and/or neighbouring inclusiveness target countries that want to grow into a leadership role/position; Early stage administrators are especially encouraged to apply.

The completed application form must be submitted online via by Tuesday, December 25, 2018. No deadline extensions will be granted and late comers, unfortunately, cannot be accepted. 

Applicants will be notified of acceptance or rejection by January 16, 2019.
