The Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences is excited to start the Days of BHAAAS today! Tuzla, the salt capital of the region with its beautiful Pannonian salt lakes, is welcoming us enthusiastically, and we are eagerly awaiting to start our numerous events and symposia.

On Thursday, June 1, the BHAAAS Sustainable Development program events will commence with the opening of the Green Design Biennale exhibit in the Tuzla Cultural Center. It is a traveling exhibition of projects from the EU and the Western Balkans region, aiming to capture and share the leading innovation and developments that will shape the sustainable and circular world of tomorrow.

On Friday, June 2, in collaboration with the Regional Cooperation Council for Southeast Europe, we are hosting a hybrid event on Disaster Management and Risk Reduction. Keynote speakers from Japan, Turkey, and BiH will discuss good practices in disaster management, available methodologies for calculating ex-post cost, and earthquake risk assessment. Following the keynote speeches, panelists from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Europa RE, European Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid Operations, and the Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative for SE Europe will share their insights and further discuss the topic.
